Visitor Visas & eTAs
Foreign nationals visiting Canada for tourism, family visits, or business require either a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
- Maximum Stay: Standard entry allows up to 6 months.
- Core Requirements: Proof of funds, strong social and economic ties to the home country, and intention to depart at the end of your stay.
Study Permits
Required for academic or professional courses longer than 6 months at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI).
- Intake Caps: Undergraduate applicants require a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) issued by the province.
- PGWP Eligibility: Graduates from eligible DLI programs may qualify for a Post-Graduation Work Permit based on field-of-study priorities.
Work Permits
- Employer-Specific (LMIA-based): Authorizes employment only for a specified employer, requiring a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment.
- Open Work Permits: Allows work for almost any Canadian employer (available for PGWP holders, open spousal applicants, and working holiday participants).
